Prior to the untimely death of NBA star Kobe Bryant and his beloved daughter Gianna “Gigi” Bryant, Bryant filed a trademark application for Gigi’s nickname, “Mambacita” – a play on her father’s famed nickname “Black Mamba.”
The father-daughter pair who shared a love of basketball, sought to include the endearing nickname on a range of sports gear including sweatpants, jerseys, sweatshirts and the like, according to Rolling Out.
The mark, if accepted, will likely be very prevalent throughout the Sports Academy attended by Gigi which was rebranded under her father’s nickname in early 2019. Both Bryant and Gigi shared their passion for basketball by frequently sitting courtside at Lakers games and at the MAMBA Sports Academy where Bryant coached her AAU team.
The legend and his young legend-in-the-making shared a connection that went far beyond basketball and the impact they have made on people around the world will not go unnoticed.
