Over the past two and a half months, most of Americans have been coming up with some of the most creative ways to keep ourselves entertained as we battle this pandemic, COVID-19. From virtual meetings, birthday parties to virtual family dinners, we are all trying to do our best to stay sane. In the essence of doing so, many of our favorite celebrities and large corporations have been doing their part in trying to keep smiles on our faces as well.
Back in mid-March, DJ D-Nice took to Instagram Live and created what the internet deemed as “Club Quarantine”, spinning the latest and greatest hits of all time for hours. He had everyone checking in from former First Lady, Michelle Obama, to the legendary Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds, it was one of the first times that the world was virtually brought together for a celebration as we prepared for the repercussions of COVID. Not too much later after “Club Quarantine” sets, super-producers, Swizz Beats and Timbaland, teamed up and presented the world with Verzuz.
Verzuz started out as a 20-song battle between evenly matched producers (Timbaland and Swizz Beats), but has now invited in writers, rappers, R&B singers, and let’s not forget the most recent battle with gospel artists Kirk Franklin and Fred Hammond. Essentially, the ladies won the masses with their sultry, Neo-Soul vibes on the Saturday of Mother’s Day weekend, which definitely set the tone and was a big win for the culture. Stay tuned as Timbaland and Swizz have more battles lined up to help us get through quarantine.
