‘It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year – Divorce Time!’

It is that time of year again. Kanye West has hired yet another lawyer to assist in his divorce proceedings with Kim Kardashian. It has been nearly two full years since Kim Kardashian filed for divorce from Kanye West, back in early 2021. Since Kim has filed for divorce, she has been a player in Kanye’s cat-and-mouse game as he chases her back to their love. During that time, Kanye has hired lawyers and then released them, with some of the lawyers even terminating the client-lawyer relationship themselves, in hopes that Kim would one day come back home. Kim has repeatedly ignored his many advances to reconcile their marriage, and now it seems that Kanye just might be ready to throw in the towel, as well.

Kanye has reportedly hired his sixth (and seventh) divorce lawyer(s) to help “win the fight” against Kim. He has not hired just any lawyer, however. Robert Stephan Cohen is the attorney who represented Melinda Gates in her multi-billion-dollar divorce from Bill Gates. What’s even crazier? Attorney Cohen isn’t even licensed in California. Because Attorney Cohen is based in New York and the Kardashian-West divorce is in the California courts, Kanye has had to hire yet another attorney, Nicholas Salick, as his actual California attorney to represent him in the divorce. Legally, an attorney generally cannot practice law (divorce proceedings or otherwise) in a state that he/she is unlicensed in. It hasn’t been confirmed how or whether Kanye will actually stick by Attorney Cohen’s side for this divorce, considering where he’s licensed to practice. It also has not been confirmed whether or not Attorney Cohen will take the proper avenues to acquire at least a temporary license to practice in California.

What’s worse? The “couple” isn’t simply splitting assets – that’s the least of their worries. The pair did have a prenup prior to tying the knot. The pair does, however, have children to worry about. Although Kanye has admitted to Kim having their children at least 80% of the time, some are wondering why exactly he needs such a high-profile lawyer in a case where custody seems clear. Some have suggested that her previous public relationship with Pete Davidson has something to do with it, however the pair (Kim and Kanye) have been deemed “legally single” by a California judge since March of 2021. Whatever Kanye’s reason is for hiring such a high-profile lawyer, we will find out soon...if he doesn’t fire him.
