Celebrities are lighting up, vibing, and making money with their own line of branded marijuana goods as the legalization of cannabis flips the switch on decades of stigmatization. As many celebrities, including actresses, musicians, and athletes, already smoked marijuana, it was only natural for them to co-sign on a "cannabiz" or develop their own strain.
Allow us to introduce you to a few canna-brands owned by a few of our favorite celebs:
Tyson 2.0 is owned by none other than, you guessed it, boxer Mike Tyson. It is his premium cannabis brand that initially launched in Arizona, Maryland, Ohio, and Pennsylvania with Columbia Care. In the markets where Tyson 2.0 is active, Columbia Care is the company's sole national partner for manufacture, distribution, and cultivation. Products began to appear on stores in November 2021 after the agreement was originally announced in October 2021. Nine Columbia Care markets currently provide Tyson 2.0, and additional markets will follow in the coming months.
Here's what Mike had to say about the use and benefits of cannabis in an article from prnewswire.com, “Cannabis has been used as a form of medicine for thousands of years and now more than ever has become widely known to help people better cope with anxiety and depression. As cannabis has helped me, it's an honor to be able to share greater well-being with fans through the unrivaled Tyson 2.0 products we are developing and our synergistic partnership with Columbia Care.”
Leafs by Snoop
Back in November 2015, Snoop Dogg launched his very own cannabis brand named “Leafs by Snoop.” Snoop’s cannabis brand mad him the first A-list celebrity to make it to the market with a full, self-branded line of commercialized cannabis. Because Snoop is not a resident of Colorado, he cannot legally own the brand in Colorado, so he teamed up with LivWell – the DBA for Beyond Broadway – which is one of the largest pot shop operators and cannabis cultivators in Colorado, to use their license to grow all of Leafs by Snoop’s brand’s flowers and manufacture its edibles and concentrates.
According to thecannabist.com, “The Leafs by Snoop bud offerings include eight strains of marijuana flower — Cali Kush, Northern Lights, Blueberry Dream and others — sold as pre-packaged eighths, quarters and ounces. The same eight strains are available as concentrates, both wax and shatter. And the Leafs by Snoop edibles line includes six different chocolate bar flavors, four types of cannabis drops, two gummies flavors, four fruit chews options and what Snoop calls ‘peanut butter gems’.”
Last but not least, Mr. Wiz Khalifa himself with “Khalifa Kush.” Wiz launched his cannabis brand early this year in California. The brand was launched through an exclusive partnership with Cookies Forbes.com states. The pair have been collaborating since 2010. Khalifa Kush was established in 2016 and now offers flower, pre-rolls, vapes, edibles, and concentrates. California, Nevada, Arizona, and Utah all have it on the shelf. With sweatshirts and hype-worthy clothing bearing stoney, psychedelic sayings like "Stay Positive and Stoned" and "Smoke Better Weed," Khalifa Kush has developed into a lifestyle brand.
Wiz is planning and expanding. The markets that are next up are Florida, Michigan, and Pennsylvania. His goal is to be national, for both medicinal and recreational use in the cannabis industry sooner than later.
We love to see celebs stepping into lights outside of the ones that made them famous!
