If there’s one thing COVID-19 taught us, it was definitely always being prepared. The COVID-19 pandemic has made 2020 a nightmare for many people around the world, and inadequate estate planning can exacerbate the pain.
People often ask, “when is the right time to create or update their estate plan?” We always say, “if you know when you are going to die then call us a couple weeks before; otherwise, just do it now.”
Estate planning is most significant when people have been recently diagnosed with a life- threatening condition or who scheduled for surgery, that have suddenly become serious about addressing their estate planning needs. However, you shouldn’t wait until something significant is planned in relation to your health. COVID-19 hit us as a surprise and because life is unpredictable planning ahead is always the answer.
